South African Betway Premiership side Durban City are in talks to sign TelOne and Warriors forward Washington Navaya.

The 27-year-old has attracted interest following his golden boot-winning performance in the recently concluded 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, where he scored 17 goals. He is currently on international duty with the Zimbabwe national team, and a strong showing at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) could further elevate his market value.

According to Soccer Laduma, Durban City chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed that discussions had taken place with the player, but his AFCON participation has delayed progress in the negotiations.

“I spoke to him now before the boy went to the national team. So they are delaying it because they want the player to come back from the national team and then only they can negotiate and whatever,” Kadodia told the publication.

“But understand, they’re very smart because they’re looking to see if anybody can spot him. So leave them. When they come back and they get no offers, they must come to our terms.”

Navaya is also attracting interest from several other clubs, including Zimbabwean champions Scotland FC.
