South Africa coach Hugo Broos has declared war against the Warriors ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations clash on Monday.
Bafana Bafana lost 1–0 to 10-man Egypt in Agadir yesterday, with Mohamed Salah scoring from the penalty spot. The match ended in controversy after South Africa was denied a late penalty appeal.
In the 87th minute, Bafana Bafana protested after Yasser Ibrahim appeared to handle the ball inside the box while sliding, with Teboho Mokoena’s shot striking Ibrahim’s supporting arm.
After a lengthy review, Burundian referee Pacifique Ndabihawenimana, following consultation with VAR, ruled that no penalty would be awarded.
“The first thing we have to do before the next one is forget about this game because it’s finished. Just because we lost today, it doesn’t mean the confidence is gone; we believe we have the quality to beat Zimbabwe.”
Meanwhile, the Warriors played to a 1-all draw with Angola in another Group B fixture, which was played yesterday.
The Warriors will be hoping to secure their first win at the ongoing tournament while hoping to make it past the Group Stage for the first time in the team’s AFCON history.
