South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos has claimed that some players in his squad have not delivered satisfactory performances during their Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Bafana Bafana secured qualification to the Round of 16 after collecting six points, following victories over Angola in their opening match and Zimbabwe in a 3–2 win on Monday.
Despite progressing to the knockout stages, Broos admitted he is not pleased with the performances of some of his players.
“I have to agree that I’m not happy with the performances of some players and how they’re acting on the pitch,” the Belgian gaffer told reporters after the game against Zimbabwe.
“It’s something we have to work on. This has been happening since the beginning of the tournament.
“The progression we made in the last tournament does not guarantee us to win on the pitch now.
“It was easy for us in the last tournament. Now it’s difficult because everyone is now aware of how good we are.”
