Warriors captain Marvellous Nakamba has been criticised following his performance in the AFCON clash against South Africa.
Zimbabwe suffered a 2-3 defeat to South Africa in which Nakamba’s handball led to a decisive penalty.
This means the Warriors are out of the 2025 AFCON edition, only managing to secure a point in three games played.
The team needed a win or a draw against South Africa to stand a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 but failed to do so.
This marked the seventh AFCON appearance for the Warriors.
He(Nakmba), however, admitted fault after the match, apologising to the nation and his teammates.
“I am sorry to my country, to my teammates, and to everyone in Zimbabwe. It’s life; we lose as a team, and hopefully we will soldier on and learn from the mistakes. It’s part of life,” he said.
Despite the apology, some Warriors supporters questioned Nakamba’s statement saying he downplayed the gravity of the incident.
