Zimbabwean prospects Dakarai Mafico and Tanatswa Nyakuhwa have been linked with loan moves away from Cardiff City in the current January transfer window as the club looks to accelerate their development.
According to BBC Sport, the Bluebirds are exploring options to send several fringe and academy players out to gain valuable first-team experience, with Mafico and Nyakuhwa among those likely to be considered for temporary moves.
Though the club is yet to finalise any deals, Cardiff head coach Brian Barry-Murphy revealed that arrangements are expected to materialise soon as the club does not want the duo to lose momentum.
“Loans are very important for the young players coming through. There’s nothing concrete on Dakarai or Tanatswa yet. We think something is imminent,” Barry-Murphy said.
“We just want to get them playing sooner rather than later to make sure that we don’t miss any game-time for them.”
The pair have been training with Cardiff’s senior squad this season, but competition for places has limited their opportunities, making a loan spell a practical option to ensure regular football.
