The Zimbabwe national team has slumped to its worst-ever FIFA ranking following its performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Warriors were knocked out of the tournament at the group stage after collecting just one point, finishing bottom of Group B.
Zimbabwe began their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Egypt before playing out a 1-1 draw against Angola. They then lost their final match 3-2 against neighbours South Africa.
Ahead of the tournament, the national team was the lowest-ranked side in the group.
Following the poor results and failure to reach the knockout stages, the Warriors have dropped three places to number 132 — their lowest position in the history of the FIFA Ranking system.
Previously, the national team’s lowest position was number 131.
On the African rankings table, Zimbabwe are placed 37th.
Meanwhile, Morocco remain Africa’s top-ranked team despite losing the AFCON final to Senegal, who retained second place.
The latest rankings were released on Monday.
Africa Top 10: 1. Morocco, 2. Senegal, 3. Nigeria, 4. Algeria, 5. Egypt, 6. Ivory Coast, 7, Cameroon, 8, Tunisia, 9, DRC, 10, Mali.
