Motherwell FC turned down several deadline-day offers for Tawanda Maswanhise despite holding talks with interested clubs before the January transfer window closed on Monday night.
The Zimbabwe international attracted strong interest following his outstanding form this season, with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers among the clubs keen to sign him.
English Championship side Blackburn Rovers submitted a £1.5 million ($2 million) bid for the striker, while Leicester City were also linked with a potential move at one stage of the window.
Belgian heavyweights Anderlecht made a late push to secure Maswanhise’s signature, with reports in Europe suggesting that talks had taken place between the two clubs.

According to Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Motherwell were holding out for a minimum fee of €3 million (£2.6 million, $3.1 million) for the forward. However, the deal ultimately collapsed after Anderlecht valued the player below that figure.
Tavolieri wrote in a separate post: “Despite talks happening during today (Monday) to explore the possibility of an exit for Tawanda Maswanhise, Motherwell FC has totally rejected the approach of RSC Anderlecht.
“Tawanda Maswanhise had a 3 year and a half + one year option ready in RSCA.”
Motherwell were also under no pressure to sell Maswanhise in the mid-season transfer window as his contract is expiring in June 2027 and the club also holds a one-year option.
The 23-year-old currently leads the Scottish Premiership scoring charts with 13 goals and has added a further five goals across other competitions this season.
