Northern Region Division One side N’ombeyawora has changed their franchise ownership and will now operate under a new name.

N’ombeyawora is owned by businessman Scott Sakupwanya, who also owns Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC.

The club will now be known as G & T Mine FC and will continue competing in the Northern Region Division One League.

In a statement, the Northern Region League said: “The League acknowledges the change of ownership of N’ombeyawora FC and the subsequent change of name to G & T Mine FC.

“We welcome the new ownership and look forward to their contribution towards the growth and development of our region.

“The League received notification of the change of ownership and confirms that the process was done in compliance with our rules.

“The League wishes G & T Mine FC all the best of success in their football endeavours.”

The franchise ownership change comes at a time when N’ombeyawora are on the verge of completing a deal with Eastern Region Division One champions Hunters FC, who will be playing in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this coming season.

N’ombeyawora chairman Cuthbert Chitima is expected to lead the executive of the newly joined entity between N’ombeyawora and Hunters FC.
