Benjani Mwaruwari has begun his tenure as the head coach of Highlanders with a victory against Dynamos.

Bosso edged out the Glamour Boys with a 1-0 victory in the pre-season Jairos Jiri Charity Cup at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Benjamin Odeugun scored the solitary goal of the game in the 50th minute. Dynamos also found the back of the net through Trevor Mavhunga in the first half, but the goal was ruled out following a foul in the build-up.

The game marked Mwaruwari’s first time in charge of the Bulawayo giants, while Dynamos’ Genesis Mangombe began his second tenure following his return to the club last month.

The match comes just two weeks before the start of the 2026 season and was the first pre-season fixture for both teams.

As the Chibuku Super Cup holders, Dynamos are set to kick-start the campaign with a Castle Challenge Cup clash against 2025 Premiership champions Scottland on 28 February.

Highlanders will begin their campaign a week later when the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season gets underway.

Meanwhile, all proceeds from the match will go towards supporting the less privileged through the Jairos Jiri Association.
