Nigerian Bolt driver Isaac Satlat killed in South Africa

The investigation into the murder of 22-year-old Nigerian Bolt driver Isaac Satlat has taken a major step forward, with three suspects now in police custody and scheduled to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February 2026.

Gauteng police confirmed the arrests, adding that officers are still searching for a fourth suspect linked to the crime.

A 25-year-old woman was initially detained on Friday, 13 February, followed by the arrest of two men, aged 30 and 26, over the weekend.

“The police have arrested two more suspects after an e-hailing driver was allegedly killed on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. The two male suspects, who are aged 30 and 26, will join the third suspect, aged 25, who was arrested on Friday, 13 February 2026,” said Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo.

“All suspects are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges that include car hijacking and murder.”

Satlat was allegedly attacked after responding to a ride request in Pretoria West.

His hijacked vehicle and body were later discovered abandoned in Atteridgeville. CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspects in connection with the crime.

The tragic killing sparked outrage online, particularly after disturbing footage circulated on social media.

Police urged the public not to share the video, warning that doing so could hamper investigations and retraumatise the victim’s family.

Satlat’s family has rejected claims that the murder was xenophobic, insisting the attack was purely criminal in nature.

They urged the public not to frame the incident as South Africans versus Nigerians.

Investigations remain ongoing as police continue their search for the fourth suspect and work to piece together the events surrounding Satlat’s killing.
