The Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Hon. Emily Jesaya, has handed over financial support to the Mighty Warriors, with each player receiving a US$2,700 bonus.
The women’s national team is currently in South Africa, where they are taking part in the 2026 COSAFA Women’s Championship.
Hon. Jesaya presented the support on behalf of the Government ahead of the team’s goalless draw against Zambia on Sunday.
The financial boost is expected to motivate the players as they aim to secure a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The goalless draw saw Zimbabwe maintain second place while consolidating their chances of reaching the semi-finals.
The top teams in all three groups will advance to the semi-finals, along with the best runner-up. Because there are three teams in Group C, results against the bottom-placed sides in Groups A and B will be disregarded for the purposes of that calculation.
