Sheffield Wednesday coach Henrik Pedersen has explained Marvelous Nakamba’s absence over the weekend.
Nakamba missed Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United, a result that confirmed the struggling Championship side’s relegation to League One.
Speaking after the game on Sunday, Pedersen revealed that the Warriors international sustained a facial injury.
“Yesterday (Saturday) we lost Marv,” Pedersen said, as cited by The Star. “He got an elbow in his face.”
Nakamba’s return date has not yet been confirmed.
The Zimbabwean midfielder has made just one appearance since joining the club on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
He was an unused substitute in the previous round against Millwall.
