The Parliamentary Sports Portfolio Committee Chairperson Farai Jere has given his assessment of the National Sports Stadium after his tour on Thursday.
Intial renovations started in 2024 and have been ongoing until now.
The giant facility, which is owned by the Ministry of Sports, is now expected to be completed in eight weeks, as it is currently 98% complete.
Speaking to the press after touring, Jere said he has been impressed with the work that has. been donne so far.
He said: “I’m very impressed with progress so far. The last time we were here, that was in July, there has been significant changes.
“We are very happy that he water reticulation system is now almost done. The pipes are all now covered and are now in the testing phase.”
He added: “This facility is now 98% complete. If we’re to play a match tomorrow it will be easy for people to get into the stadium. The turnstiles are now accommodating even the disabled.”
