Warriors defender Isheanesu Mauchi joins SA top-flight club

Chippa United have secured the signature of highly rated Warriors defender Isheanesu Mauchi.

The 23-year-old centre-back, who previously turned out for Simba Bhora, had attracted interest from several Betway Premiership sides, including TS Galaxy, AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC.

His move to the Chilli Boys also ends speculation linking him with a return to the Zimbabwean top flight, where CAPS United, FC Platinum and Scottland FC were reportedly keen on landing his services.

Mauchi has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, securing his future in the Eastern Cape until 2028.

The Gqeberha-based outfit recently created room in their foreign quota following key departures. Congolese centre-back Fasika Idumba completed a move to Al Ahly Benghazi, while Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali also left the club. In addition, Malian defender Abdoulaye Mariko returned to his parent club, Orlando Pirates.

Mauchi was instrumental in Simba Bhora’s 2024 Zimbabwean league triumph, making 20 appearances during the title-winning campaign.

The Harare-born defender has been on a steady upward trajectory, earning back-to-back nominations as a Soccer Star of the Year finalist in Zimbabwe before receiving a call-up for the 2025 AFCON.
