Mnangagwa’s Secret Agents Torment Opposition Councillor As Tension Rises Over 2030 Agenda
By A Correspondent – Chikomba Rural District Council (CRDC) CCC Ward 11 councillor Collen Zvarevashe says he is living in fear, claiming that operatives from the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) have threatened him over his opposition to efforts aimed at extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond constitutional limits under the so-called 2030 Agenda.
Zvarevashe said he fears for his life after experiencing repeated intimidation from CIO operatives based in Chivhu.
He said:
“I am unable to work freely in my ward because I feel constantly watched. These agents have threatened me, even through messages in our residents’ WhatsApp groups.
“One security officer came to my home during the campaign period and took photographs. When I questioned him, I got no explanation.
“After last week’s elections, I was warned that the Ward 7 seat has been ‘claimed’ and that I could be next.
“Opposition councillors in Chikomba are living under severe pressure, which affects our ability to serve the community.
“Some of my colleagues have faced serious danger. Amos Reza died under suspicious circumstances, officially reported as an accident. Ishmael Maukazuva was arrested under unclear conditions. Now I fear I could be their next target.”
Zvarevashe’s statements underline the growing concerns about the safety of opposition leaders in Chikomba, especially as tensions rise over attempts to extend presidential power under the 2030 Agenda.
