Castle Lager Premier Soccer League League champions Scottland FC and Dynamos FC, the reigning Chibuku Super Cup holders, will clash this afternoon in the 2026 Castle Challenge Cup final.
The traditional season curtain-raiser will be staged at Rufaro Stadium on 1 March 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm CAT. The fixture brings together the winners of the league title and the country’s premier knockout competition.
Speaking ahead of the match, Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe said: “We have been preparing accordingly but, at the end of the day, there will be one winner.
“We have a new squad and we’ve been trying combinations and also seeing how best we can get the best out of the players.”
Scottland FC coach Norman Mapeza is anticipating a tough encounter, saying: “Football is all about competition but, look, it’s never easy to play Dynamos. They look like a very competitive team, but all I can say is that we are ready for it.
“From what I have seen at training, it looks like we are all set.”
Both Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and ZTN Prime are expected to broadcast the match live.
General admission tickets have been pegged at $5. Fans wishing to sit in the VIP section will part with $10, while VVIP tickets have been set at $20.
The total prize purse for the Castle Challenge Cup stands at $55,000. The winners will walk away with $35,000, while the runners-up will receive $20,000. Beyond the financial incentive, the match also offers early silverware and momentum ahead of the start of the league season.
Both teams are expected to use the tie to assess their squads and new signings ahead of the marathon campaign that lies ahead.
