Chamisa Breathes Fire Over Cheap Propaganda Meant to Soil His Image
Tinashe Sambiri– Citizens leader Nelson Chamisa has hit back sharply at what he described as “cheap propaganda” aimed at misrepresenting his political stance, following a Facebook post he shared on Thursday.
In a statement released Friday morning, Chamisa denounced attempts by critics to twist his words and undermine his image.
“BE CLEAR…#NoTo2050 means No to ED’s current rigged term and No to any such term’s extension,” Chamisa said.
“If you claim it means anything else, you are not quoting me, you are gaslighting, fabricating and inventing me. Stop the desperate propaganda!!”
Chamisa accused detractors of deliberately spreading false narratives to confuse the public and distort his political message.
He insisted that his #NoTo2050 campaign is aimed solely at resisting what he calls unlawful attempts to extend the current president’s term in office.
“This is not about personal attacks or mischief. It is about defending democracy and safeguarding the constitution. Anything beyond that is a deliberate lie,” Chamisa added.
Supporters have rallied behind the opposition leader, praising his outspoken defense of his position, while political opponents have criticized the post as provocative and divisive.
The controversy has fueled renewed debate across social media and political forums in Zimbabwe, highlighting the increasingly tense political environment as the country approaches the next election cycle.
Chamisa concluded by warning that he will not remain silent in the face of misinformation.
“We will continue to call out propaganda for what it is,” he said, “and ensure the public knows the truth behind our message.”
