Chamisa Breaks Silence: “I Will Never Take Money From ZANU-PF”

Tinashe Sambiri – Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has strongly dismissed accusations circulating on social media that he has benefited from bribes linked to the ruling ZANU–PF.

The allegations were raised by Kuwadzana legislator Charlton Hwende on the microblogging platform X (Twitter), where he suggested that Chamisa had been compromised by receiving benefits from the governing party.

In a recent interview with a local media outlet, Chamisa brushed aside the accusations, describing them as comments made in a state of intoxication.

“Those things are said in circumstances of intoxication. Why should I waste my time on issues of drinks?” Chamisa said.
He insisted that his political stance has remained firm despite the criticism and attacks directed at him over the years.

“For the record, I bear multiple scars for standing principled, focused and consistent,” he said.

Chamisa further rejected suggestions that he has benefited from privileges often associated with public office.

“I am not in Parliament. I have not received a loan from Zanu PF. I don’t have a farm,” he said.

Chamisa said instead of receiving benefits, he has endured persecution because of his political stance.

“I have nothing that I have received from anyone except persecution, ridicule, oppression, and attempted assassination,” he said.
