Paris Saint‑Germain Run Riot As Chelsea F.C. Collapse In 5–2 Champions League Thriller

Sports Correspondent – Paris Saint‑Germain delivered a devastating attacking display to secure a commanding 5–2 victory over Chelsea F.C. in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash at the Parc des Princes.

The French giants produced a late surge to take control of the tie, with Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerging as the hero after scoring two stunning late goals to put the hosts firmly in command ahead of the return leg.

PSG started brightly and opened the scoring through Bradley Barcola, who unleashed a thunderous strike that smashed off the underside of the crossbar and into the net, sending the home crowd into celebration.

Chelsea responded quickly as defender Malo Gusto drew the visitors level, capitalising on a defensive lapse to make it 1–1.

The hosts soon regained control when Ousmane Dembélé finished clinically to restore PSG’s lead, but Chelsea fought back once more as midfielder Enzo Fernández slotted home to bring the score to 2–2.

The match turned decisively in PSG’s favour after a costly error by Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen allowed Vitinha to pounce and score, giving the Parisians the lead once again.

From that point, PSG never looked back. Kvaratskhelia took centre stage late in the game, first unleashing a spectacular long-range strike before calmly finishing another chance to seal an emphatic 5–2 victory for the home side.

The result gives PSG a major advantage heading into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 17.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior accepted responsibility for his team’s defensive lapses, particularly the costly goalkeeping mistake that shifted the momentum.

Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Pedro Neto apologised after pushing a ball boy during the heated encounter, describing the incident as a reaction “in the heat of the moment.”

With five goals conceded and a three-goal deficit to overturn, Chelsea now face an uphill battle in London if they are to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
