Shock As Warriors Coach Snubs Marshall Munetsi Again!
Sports Correspondent – Midfielder Marshall Munetsi has once again been left out of the Zimbabwe national team squad for the international friendly matches scheduled later this month, despite his impressive club form.
Munetsi has been in fine shape for Paris FC in France’s Ligue 1, recently finding the net in three successive matches and establishing himself as one of the club’s standout performers.
The 28-year-old last represented the Warriors towards the end of last year and was also absent from the squad that took part in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Given his recent performances at club level, many supporters expected Munetsi to earn a recall. However, Warriors head coach Marian Marinica has opted not to include him in the latest selection.
Several other players are also missing from the squad due to injuries. These include Brendan Galloway of Plymouth Argyle, Barnsley’s Tawanda Chirewa and Udinese defender Jordan Zemura.
Meanwhile, Marinica has introduced three new faces to the national team setup. Goalkeeper Future Sibanda of ZPC Kariba, Ipswich Town player Corbin Mthunzi and Panashe Makwiramiti from Welsh Premier League side Haverfordwest County have all received their first senior call-ups.
Two players have also made their return to the squad after previous absences. Shane Maroodza, who plays for FK Sarajevo, and Brentford’s Marley Tavaziva are back in the Warriors fold.
Zimbabwe is set to participate in a four-nation invitational tournament alongside Zambia, Malawi and Botswana.
The competition will take place at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium from March 23 to March 31.
