In-form Munetsi omitted from Warriors squad as Marian Marinica hands debut calls to three players

In-form midfielder Marshall Munetsi has again been omitted from the Warriors squad for the upcoming international friendlies set for this month.

Munetsi is currently enjoying a good spell at Paris FC in the Ligue 1 after scoring three goals in three consecutive matches.

The midfielder last featured for the Zimbabwe national team late last year before missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With his current form, Munetsi was widely expected to return to the squad but has been overlooked once again by Warriors coach Marian Marinica.

Other notable absentees include Brendan Galloway of Plymouth Argyle, Tawanda Chirewa of Barnsley and Jordan Zemura of Udinese Calcio, who are all sidelined through injury.

Marinica has handed debut call-ups to three players, while two more are returning to the national team fold after missing previous squads.

Those receiving their first call-ups are goalkeeper Future Sibanda of ZPC Kariba, Corbin Mthunzi of Ipswich Town and Panashe Makwiramiti, who plays for Welsh top-flight side Haverfordwest County.

The returning players are Shane Maroodza of FK Sarajevo and Marley Tavaziva of Brentford.

Zimbabwe will feature in an invitational four-nations tournament that also includes Zambia national football team, Malawi national football team and Botswana national football team.

The tournament will be staged at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium from 23 to 31 March.
