Jordan Zemura has become the latest player set to miss the Warriors’ upcoming international friendlies this month.
The Udinese defender suffered a muscle problem during the final training session ahead of his club’s match against Atalanta and is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks after medical tests confirmed the injury.
Zemura joins a growing list of foreign-based players who are likely to miss the national team assignments.
Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway is still recovering from injury after recently undergoing surgery to treat a sports hernia. The defender has been out of action for several weeks and is unlikely to be fit in time to join the squad.
Barnsley attacker Tawanda Chirewa is another doubtful case. The attacking midfielder recently returned to his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation after picking up an injury.
Midfielder Andy Rinomhota has also been inactive. The Reading player has only just resumed training with the club’s first team after missing nearly two months of action due to personal commitments. His availability for the Warriors will depend on his match fitness.
Zimbabwe is set to take part in an invitational four-nations tournament later this month which will also feature Zambia, Botswana and Malawi.
The games will be played at Obed Itani Stadium in Francistown, Botswana during the international break from 23 – 31 March.
