FC Platinum Coach Joel Luphahla Bemoans Slippery Pitch Despite 2-0 Win Over Manica Diamonds
Sports Correspondent – FC Platinum coach Joel Luphahla has expressed frustration over the poor state of football pitches in Zimbabwe, saying wet and muddy conditions are making matches challenging for all teams.
The Platinum Boys returned to Mandava Stadium for the first time this season and secured a 2-0 victory over Manica Diamonds, but Luphahla noted that the muddy surface made play difficult.
“It was a tough game given the conditions,” Luphahla said after the match.
“The pitch was hard to play on. But it’s the same for everyone – every team has to deal with these conditions. We just need to adapt and find ways to cope.”
FC Platinum’s win was secured in the first half thanks to goals from McKinnon Mushore and Garikai Dematsika, who both found the back of the net before halftime.
Despite the victory,
Luphahla’s comments highlight ongoing concerns about playing surfaces across the country, particularly after heavy rains have left several pitches waterlogged and difficult to manage.
The coach added that preparing for matches on such surfaces will require teams to be flexible and adjust tactics accordingly.
