Tonderai Ndiraya speaks on three teams sharing Barbourfields Stadium

Chicken Inn coach Tonderai Ndiraya has opened up on sharing Barbourfields Stadium with Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs after Luveve Stadium was dehomologated ahead of the new season.

Chicken Inn had been using the Luveve ground previously, while Barbourfields Stadium was mainly reserved for their big matches and Highlanders’ home games.

The Gamecocks hosted their first home match of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season at the bigger facility on Saturday, winning 2–0 against Triangle United.

Speaking after the game, Ndiraya admitted that they are more used to playing at Luveve but said the team will try to get better results at the new venue.

“We’re playing here at Barbourfields Stadium, but I think we’re a bit familiar with Luveve,” he said. “But I have always said we belong to Bulawayo, and we must be comfortable playing anywhere in the city, and I’m glad we played here at Barbourfields and managed to pick maximum points.”

On sharing the facility with Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs, Ndiraya added: “I hope they will also win when they play here. Three teams in Bulawayo, I have always mentioned the need to work hand in glove to defend the city, and I’m sure it’s something we should do.”
