CAPS United stretch winning run to keep top spot as Highlanders drop points again





CAPS United maintained their lead at the top of the table after extending their perfect start with a 1-0 win over Triangle United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 3 encounter at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle.

The Green Machine moved to nine points from three matches, continuing their impressive early-season form.

Malawian international Chawananga Kaonga netted the solitary goal in the 70th minute, opening his scoring account for CAPS United.

At Barbourfields Stadium, Highlanders dropped points again after playing out a goalless draw against MWOS.

Bosso are yet to register a victory this season under new coach Benjani Mwaruwari, having drawn all three of their opening matches.

At Baobab Stadium, Ngezi Platinum defeated ZPC Kariba 2-1 to move into second place with seven points, while Simba Bhora edged Telone 1-0 at Ascot Stadium.

Newcomers FC Hunters remain winless this campaign following their goalless draw against FC Platinum. The result means the newly promoted side have collected just three points from their first three games of the season.

Elsewhere, Hardrock recorded their second victory in the league after edging Chicken Inn 1-0.

Wilfred Madzungu scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute.
