MP Accuses Mnangagwa Regime Of Protecting Murderers

Tinashe Sambiri – Mbizo Constituency legislator Hon. Corban Madzivanyika on Tuesday strongly criticised politicians from the ruling ZANU PF in Parliament, accusing them of shielding violent gangs responsible for attacks and killings in communities.

Speaking during a heated session, Madzivanyika said political leaders were enabling machete-wielding gangs and frustrating efforts to secure justice for victims of violent crime.

The opposition lawmaker argued that some politicians were protecting individuals involved in violent activities.

“Politicians are the ones shielding machete gangs operating in our communities. We are demanding justice for the killing of Mboneni Ncube,” Madzivanyika said.

He warned that continued protection of politically connected criminals was eroding public confidence in the justice system.

Madzivanyika’s remarks come amid growing concern over the activities of machete gangs, which have been linked to murders, assaults and intimidation in several parts of the country.

Critics say alleged political interference has often delayed decisive action against those responsible.

The legislator said authorities must ensure accountability for the death of Mboneni Ncube, a case that has triggered anger among residents and renewed calls for a crackdown on violent groups believed to be operating with political backing.

His comments also add to mounting criticism directed at the administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, with opposition figures accusing the government of failing to take firm action against politically connected violence.
