Police Block Tsvangirai Meeting On Constitutional Amendment Bill

Tinashe Sambiri– Norton MP Richard Tsvangirai said in a statement on Thursday that a consultation meeting on Constitution Amendment No. 3 had been blocked by the police.

Richard Tsvangirai, the son of the late founding president of the Movement for Democratic Change, had scheduled the meeting for 21 March 2026 to gather the views of Norton residents on the proposed amendment.

However, the meeting has been cancelled following a directive from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), which stated that the venue had already been booked for another event.

“As a result, the meeting cannot proceed as planned,” Tsvangirai said.

He added that he remains committed to engaging residents on constitutional matters. “I will, however, explore alternative mechanisms to ensure that you, the residents and custodians of the Constitution, are adequately consulted,” he said.
