Zambia to field “B” side at 4-nations tournament after securing high-profile friendly against Argentina

Zambia will field their second-tier side at the Four Nations Tournament in Botswana after securing a high-profile friendly against world champions Argentina.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that the international friendly against Argentina will be played in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

The match coincides with the Four Nations Tournament in Botswana, which will run from March 28 to 31.

FAZ will assign the senior national team for the Argentina clash under head coach George Lwandamina, while Osward Mutapa will take charge of a “B” side made up of locally based players and emerging young talent for the Botswana tournament.

“We have received an invitation to play Argentina, and it is an opportunity we simply cannot pass up,” acting FAZ General Secretary Iva Lengwe said. “When the world champions come calling, you answer.

“It is a clear sign of the respect Zambia has continued to earn on the global stage. However, since this fixture falls at the same time as the Four Nations Tournament, we have decided to send our local assemblage to Francistown.”

The Four Nations Tournament will feature Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Malawi.
