The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed a number of injury-enforced changes to the Warriors squad ahead of the upcoming four-nation tournament in Botswana.
Several key players have been ruled out through injury, including Knowledge Musona, Tawanda Maswanhise, Prince Dube and Thando Ngwenya.
Maswanhise had been expected to travel for the tournament, but the forward reported a minor issue following his side’s 0-0 draw with Hibernian FC on Saturday. As a result, he will remain in Scotland to manage the injury.
In response, ZIFA has moved swiftly to name replacements, with four players drafted into the squad. These include Washington Navaya of Hardrock FC, Jarrison Selemani from FC Platinum, Mongameli Tshuma of Highlanders FC, and Godknows Murwira, who plies his trade at Scottland FC.
This is Tshuma’s first call-up to the Warriors squad after strong start to life at Highlanders.
Earlier on, Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Fusire withdrew from the squad due to personal commitments and was replaced by Junior Zindoga of TS Galaxy.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are set to fine-tune their preparations with an exhibition match against Highlanders FC at Barbourfields Stadium on Wednesday. The fixture is expected to give the technical team a final opportunity to assess combinations and build match fitness ahead of the regional tournament.
