Walter Mapfumo Stabbed to Death at ZAOGA Premises

By A Correspondent — A brutal robbery at a ZAOGA church in Marlborough, Harare, has left a security guard dead, highlighting the growing wave of violent crime targeting places once considered safe.

Mr Walter Mapfumo, who was on duty guarding the church premises along Harare Drive, was fatally attacked on 15 March after a group of armed robbers stormed the property.

According to reports, the assailants gained entry by climbing over the perimeter wall before confronting Mapfumo. They allegedly attempted to take him hostage, but he resisted, leading to a violent confrontation.

The attackers then subjected him to extreme brutality before proceeding to steal money from the church.

Mapfumo was stabbed multiple times in the chest and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The shocking nature of the attack has left the local community in mourning, with many describing Mapfumo as a dedicated and hardworking man who died in the line of duty.

Police are expected to launch investigations into the incident, while calls are growing for enhanced security at places of worship.
