Mnangagwa Amnesty Beneficiary Steals Cash, Motor Vehicle

By A Correspondent – A 20-year-old man recently released from prison under Presidential Amnesty is back in custody after allegedly stealing a car, cash, and other valuables just days after regaining his freedom.

Benjamin Manyangadze of Ruwa is accused of stealing US$1,800 in cash, a motor vehicle, and a cellphone from the home of Tawanda Godfrey Magure (46) in Redcliff while the homeowner was away.

Police confirmed the arrest, saying, “The suspect Benjamin Manyangadze was arrested at Murombedzi Business Centre on Monday evening.”
Authorities added that the suspect had only recently been released from custody.

“He was released from Marondera Prison on 2 March 2026, where he was serving for six counts of unlawful entry and theft,” police said.

According to investigations, the alleged theft occurred on 11 March 2026 at around 5 PM. The suspect is said to have taken a Peugeot vehicle, registration number AGY 1389, along with US$1,800 in cash, a Tecno cellphone, and other property.

Police tracked the stolen vehicle days later, stating, “Detectives spotted the stolen vehicle along the Chinhoyi–Chegutu Road at around 5 PM on Monday.”
Officers then coordinated with a local unit to intercept the suspect.

“The ZRP Murombedzi team was alerted, leading to the vehicle being intercepted at Murombedzi Business Centre,” police said.

The suspect is now in custody as investigations continue.
