Tafadzwa Clears Her Name: Denies Theft, Produces Evidence and Alleges smear Campaign by Olinda Chapel

By Own Correspondent | ZimEye | A bitter fallout between UK care boss Olinda Chapel and her former business PA (personal assistant), Tafadzwa Matinyarare, erupted over the weekend after the socialite made explosive and deeply personal allegations during a Sunday night TikTok Live.

On Monday night, Tafadzwa broke her silence in a tense Facebook Live webcast hosted by socialite Ketina Ananiah, forcefully denying theft allegations and accusing her former employer of orchestrating a calculated smear campaign to destroy her reputation.

Tafadzwa, who worked as Olinda’s PA from February 2023 until her resignation in January 2026, says she was branded a thief across social media shortly after leaving the role.

According to Tafadzwa, the relationship deteriorated rapidly after she confronted Olinda over money owed to herself and several others, leading to a series of increasingly hostile exchanges.

Eventually, Tafadzwa warned Olinda she would expose her alleged wrongdoing, after which Olinda responded with allegations of theft and misconduct.

The recent fallout followed a chaotic week for the socialite, marked by a series of disputed claims involving theft and misrepresentation.

At the centre of the storm is a GoFundMe campaign Olinda launched with Ashford Ashbragger Chimombe to support a man arrested for cooking sadza in Harare’s CBD.

The man’s plight went viral, and Olinda, presenting herself as a Good Samaritan, paid $1,200 through a fundraising effort alongside Ashford Chimombe.

The money later went missing, apparently stolen in an Ecocash scam, according to Olinda, but many are sceptical of the true whereabouts of these funds.

In a separate incident, Olinda claimed she funded the funeral of Chimombe’s daughter, covering catering, transport and PA system costs.

This version of events was flatly rejected by the socialite, King Solomon Zim, who says he was present on the day and that Olinda contributed nothing.
Then came Sunday night.

SUNDAY NIGHT ALLEGATIONS

In a move many viewers describe as a diversion tactic, Olinda went live on TikTok on Sunday night, unleashing a series of personal and damaging allegations against Tafadzwa.

Among them:

• Allegations of infidelity
• Claims that Tafadzwa faked her pregnancy and miscarriage
• A mocking disclosure of her father’s medical conditions
• Accusations Tafadzwa stole employee funds as well as $6,000 from construction workers building Olinda’s Harare home

During the same livestream, an ex-Gain Healthcare employee who attempted to defend Tafadzwa was reminded of an NDA they had signed and swiftly removed from the session.

TAFADZWA STRIKES BACK

Tafadzwa told ZimEye she has been receiving daily death threats from anonymous callers since being labelled a thief and said she would have remained silent were it not for the allegations involving her family and personal life.

In her response on Monday night, she issued a detailed rebuttal, rejecting all claims of theft.

She presented an audio recording of a contractor linked to the Harare construction project, who stated he had not spoken to or seen Olinda in months. Tafadzwa also produced pregnancy scans and hospital records confirming both her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage.

The pregnancy disclosures stunned viewers, many of whom expressed anger that Tafadzwa felt forced to publicly prove such personal trauma.
Tafadzwa also raised counter-allegations relating to the operations of Olinda’s businesses, as well as claims involving opioid use and fraud. She argued that the accusations against her were pre-emptive attempts at character assassination, made after she had warned Olinda she intended to expose her.

“She was too close to the operations and knew too much – now she is being made the fall person,” said one of the commentators on the live stream.

AFTERMATH

The livestream ended abruptly after Tafadzwa disappeared from the broadcast, believed to have suffered a panic attack. A family member later confirmed she was safe and in their care.

ZimEye has reported extensively on Olinda Chapel’s CoS fraud which peaked in 2021 and 2022 after the UK government relaxed care worker visa restrictions. Tafadzwa joined Gain Healthcare in February 2023.

Following the Facebook Live, Olinda is reported to have sent a cease and desist letter to Ketina Ananiah, the host of the broadcast.
