Zanu PF Businessman James Pande Faces Arrest Amid Claims of Political Victimization
Tinashe Sambiri– A warrant of arrest has been issued in Gweru under case number CR: 98/02/26 for businessman and ZANU PF figure James Pande, who is facing serious allegations of assault, kidnapping, and extortion.
According to police reports, the incident allegedly occurred on 22 February 2026 at around 12:30pm at Antelope Park in Gweru. The complainant, Hayden Peter Warszewski, had reportedly gone on a tour when he was allegedly taken hostage by Pande and a group of accomplices.
Authorities say the suspects demanded that Warszewski sign a contract committing to pay US$425,000 in order to resolve a financial dispute. When he refused, the situation is said to have escalated.
Police allege that Pande “twisted the victim’s arms, slapped him twice on the face, and used force and threats” in an attempt to coerce him into signing the agreement. The victim also claims he was threatened with death if he did not comply.
“Fearing for his life, the victim eventually signed the contract,” police stated. He was reportedly held for approximately 30 minutes before being released.
A medical report documenting the alleged assault is expected to be presented in court as part of the evidence.
Investigators say they visited the suspect’s last known address at a residence along Spencer Road in Bulawayo, but Pande could not be located. His current whereabouts remain unknown.
“A warrant of arrest has since been issued, and authorities are now looking for Pande so he can be arrested and brought before a magistrate to face the charges,” police confirmed.
However, insiders within ZANU PF claim the situation may not be straightforward, alleging that Pande is being politically targeted, though no further details have been officially substantiated.
