The Mbare Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 44-year-old pastor from Glen View to 12 months in prison for indecently assaulting a 19-year-old congregant.

Three months of the sentence were suspended for five years, leaving an effective jail term of nine months.

Court documents state that on 8 December 2025 at around 10:30am, the pastor asked the victim’s mother for permission for her daughter to help him with cleaning duties at the church.

Upon arrival, he allegedly hugged and fondled the victim, despite her repeated pleas to stop. He also reportedly attempted to force the victim to touch him.

The assault ended when someone knocked on the church door. The victim later informed her mother, leading to the pastor’s arrest and prosecution.
