Warriors Coach Marian Marinica Praises Team After Convincing 3-0 Win Over Botswana

By A Correspondent – Zimbabwe Warriors coach Marian Marinica has hailed his team’s performance following a 3-0 victory against Botswana in the semi-final of the Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament.

The match, held at Obed Itani Stadium, saw Zimbabwe dominate from start to finish.

Goals from Mongameli Tshuma, Macauley Bonne, and Bill Antonio—who also assisted the first two strikes—secured the win in the first half. In the second half, goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze played a pivotal role, making several key saves, including a crucial stop of a 65th-minute penalty.
Speaking after the game, Marinica expressed satisfaction with the clean sheet and finishing.

“We managed to keep a clean sheet, even though Botswana is a tough team,” he said. “We got the chances and the players took them fantastically well. On that point of view, I’m extremely pleased. We try to give everyone a chance, and the other players take that opportunity with both hands.”

Marinica also highlighted the work of his support staff, saying, “I also want to applaud the backroom staff because they work very hard behind the scenes for us to achieve the result. With the small steps like this, we hope we will achieve what we want.”

The victory sends Zimbabwe into the final, where they will face Zambia on Tuesday at 6 pm CAT, while Botswana will compete against Malawi in the third-place play-off.

The win reinforces the Warriors’ ambitions in the tournament and underscores Marinica’s strategy of integrating new talent while maintaining team cohesion.
