Tottenham in Freefall: From Europa League Glory to Relegation Battle

Sports Correspondent – Tottenham Hotspur’s dramatic downfall has emerged as one of the most shocking storylines of the current Premier League season, with the club slipping from European triumph to a desperate fight to avoid relegation.

According to The Telegraph, football writer Matt Law outlines a grim “timeline of misery” that captures the club’s stunning decline. Just under a year ago, Spurs were celebrating a historic victory after defeating Manchester United in Bilbao to win the UEFA Europa League, ending a trophy drought stretching back to 2008 and securing qualification for the Champions League.

That sense of optimism has since evaporated during a disastrous 2025/26 campaign. The situation worsened following the dismissal of Thomas Frank in February, with his replacement Igor Tudor failing to steady the ship.

Tudor’s short spell in charge proved turbulent, with the team losing five of his seven matches at the helm, including a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.

On Sunday, March 29, the club confirmed they had parted ways with Tudor by mutual agreement, deepening the sense of instability at the North London side. Tottenham now find themselves languishing in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone, with only seven matches left to play.

With a difficult run of fixtures ahead, The Telegraph warns that the once-unthinkable scenario of the Europa League winners dropping into the Championship is now a very real possibility.
