Chaos As Zanu PF Hooligans Drag Amendment Bill Critic Out Of Kwekwe Venue – Eduzim News

Tinashe Sambiri – A public hearing on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 descended into chaos at Kwekwe Theatre on Monday, ending abruptly after the only dissenting voice was forcibly removed from the venue.

Melody Chingarande, who stood alone in opposing the Bill, was booed and heckled by a hostile crowd before being kicked out of the hall.

“What a circus…?” a witness said, describing the tense and disorderly atmosphere.

The situation reportedly escalated as Chingarande faced threats from suspected hooligans, prompting sympathisers to escort her to Kwekwe Central Police Station for her safety.

“She was the only one who opposed the Bill, but instead of being heard, she was shouted down and forced out,” said an attendee.

Witnesses also noted that the environment appeared heavily one-sided.
“The hall was packed with Zanu PF supporters,” another source said, raising concerns about the fairness of the consultation process.

The incident has sparked criticism over the handling of public hearings, with observers questioning whether such platforms genuinely allow for diverse views or merely serve to endorse predetermined outcomes.
