We attained the best record in the tournament, says Warriors forward Junior Zindoga

Warriors forward Junior Zindoga says the team managed to achieve all their targets with the best record in the Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament.

Zimbabwe lifted the trophy thanks to a late own goal by Saisada Kafunti, who turned Zindoga’s cross into his own net.

The result marked Zimbabwe’s second clean sheet of the tournament after beating hosts Botswana 3-0 on Saturday.

“Our main objective was to win and we tried to implement the coach’s tactics as best as we could,” Zindoga said.

“The major positive is that we scored four goals in two games. We also kept two clean sheets, I don’t think you could have a better record in a tournament like this.

“It just means that, as a group, we are getting stronger since AFCON, and we are building a bond with the technical team. We have young players and everyone is stepping up to the party.”
