Ngezi Platinum Stars end CAPS United’s perfect run as Dynamos edge MWOS

Ngezi Platinum Stars handed CAPS United their first defeat of the season after securing a 1-0 victory in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 5 encounter played at Baobab Stadium on Thursday.

The match marked the return of Green Machine coach Takesure Chiragwi to the stadium following his departure from Ngezi Platinum Stars at the end of last season.

The hosts found the breakthrough in the first half, with Ashwin Karengesha netting what proved to be the decisive goal.

CAPS United had a golden opportunity to restore parity in the second half, but Kudzai Chigwida — himself a former Ngezi player — failed to convert from the penalty spot, as Ngezi held on to claim all three points.

At Rufaro Stadium, Dynamos secured a 1-0 thanks to a solitary goal from Jairos Kasondo from the spot in the 73rd minute.

The victory handed MWOS their first defeat of the season, while the Glamour Boys moved to 11 points.
