Warriors coach Marian Marinica breaks silence on Teenage Hadebe incident in camp

Warriors coach Marian Marinica has broken his silence after suspending defender Teenage Hadebe.

Hadebe was suspended after violating camp regulations by being caught with a bottle of whiskey in camp. A video of him holding the bottle was also leaked online.

The centre-back was suspended for one match and served the punishment in Zimbabwe’s final clash against Zambia in the Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament on Tuesday.

Speaking for the first time on the matter, Marinica said he has since pardoned Hadebe.

“I think the Teenage Hadebe issue is already water under the bridge,” said the coach, as cited by The Herald.

“Immediately after realising that he had wronged the team and the country, Hadebe went straight to the team and apologised.

“He said he was ready to take full responsibility for his error. Management decided that he be suspended for the final against Zambia.

“He showed remorse throughout the period and even went to the extent of urging every player in the team to give their all for the country. The players said they would do it for him.

“It’s that spirit that stands out. He is a real Warrior.”
