American second-tier club Detroit City FC have confirmed the return of Zimbabwean goalkeeper Tatenda Mkuruva after securing his signature on a one-year contract ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season.
The shot-stopper will wear the number 16 jersey for Le Rouge, with the deal still subject to league and federation approval.
A statement by the club reads:”Detroit City Football Club announced today that Zimbabwean goalkeeper Tatenda Mkuruva has signed with the club on a one-year contract for the 2026 USL Championship season. He will wear #16 for Le Rouge. The contract is pending league and federation approval.”
Mkuruva, now 30, has built a solid career over the years, featuring in top leagues in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia. He previously turned out for Dynamos, Cape Town City FC in the South African Premier Division, as well as Buildcon FC in the Zambian Premier League.
