Musician Fuego is dead
South African rising music artist Adifele Lastborn Maimela, widely known as Fuego (Baswele Mfana), was reportedly shot and killed on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
News of his passing began circulating on social media, with users expressing shock and disbelief.
One post read: “RIP to Adifele Lastborn Maimela, also known as Fuego. Ba swele mfan.”
The tragedy was later confirmed by his manager, Potego Nkgadima, who released a statement mourning the loss of the rising star.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our artist, Adifele Lastborn Maimela, also known as Fuego (Baswele Mafana), who tragically lost his life in an unfortunate incident,” he said.
While full details surrounding the incident remain unclear, reports suggest the shooting may have been linked to a suspected love triangle dispute.
Fuego’s death adds to a growing list of losses within the Limpopo music scene, following the passing of fellow artist DJ Poizen, who died in a car accident in 2025.
