Man Kills Brother Over Cellphone Dispute
By A Correspondent – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of Munyaradzi Takundwa (45) in connection with a brutal murder that reportedly stemmed from a petty cellphone dispute in Dombotombo, Marondera, on 28 March 2026.
According to police, the suspect allegedly struck his younger brother, Simbarashe Takundwa (41), once on the head with a shovel during the altercation. The victim died at the scene, in what authorities say highlights a disturbing escalation of violence over minor disagreements.
In a separate but equally alarming incident on the same day, ZRP officers in Bindura arrested Sharelight Ncube (31) in connection with another murder at Kitsiyatota Gold Panning Site.
Police allege that Ncube shot Padzuru Justice, who was part of a group of illegal gold miners prospecting near a railway line. The incident has once again drawn attention to the lawlessness and dangers associated with illegal mining activities in the area.
Authorities say both cases reflect a worrying pattern of violent crime, with disputes and illicit activities increasingly ending in loss of life. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
