Beirut residents deal with aftermath of deadly Israeli attacks

Israel carried out attacks across Lebanon following the announcement of a ceasefire with Iran, with reports of 100 Israeli attacks in just 10 minutes – a huge aerial attack that killed at least 303 people.

Despite international pleas for restraint, Israel’s continued campaign against the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah drew no criticism from the US, while Iran said the attacks were “a blatant violation” of the ceasefire deal and has asked the US to halt the Israeli “aggression”.

Lebanese officials say more than 1,700 people have been killed by Israel in Lebanon since early March. Israel has said its operations are aimed at weakening Hezbollah and achieving what it calls remaining military objectives.

BBC Middle East Correspondent Hugo Bachega speaks to Beirut residents in the wake of this week’s attacks.
