Over a week ago, Mubaiwa’s left leg was amputated as it could not be saved due to gangrene. Before the amputation, she had to undergo several counselling sessions to cope with the procedure. This comes after her right arm was amputated in September 2022.

Mubaiwa is currently recovering at a private hospital in Harare, and her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, expressed her devastation upon being contacted about the situation, stating that it is one of the most traumatic cases she has dealt with.

“There is really nothing to say. It’s probably one of the most traumatic cases that I have ever dealt with. We hope that we can find closure one day on this,” Mtetwa told The Standard.

Mubaiwa’s mother, Helga, declined to comment saying that she was in church.
