Popular South African actress Angela Sithole has earned herself a role on Showmax’s new drama series Empini, where she stars as Winnie alongside Siyabonga Thwala and Nambitha Ben-Mazwi.
She has had a successful acting career on shows including The Queen, Lingashoni, Zabalaza, and Smoke and Mirrors.
Speaking to the publication, Angela said her Winnie Bhodoza character has been a beautiful challenge for her.
“Playing a character who is older than me needed a lot of emotional and mental maturity. The character is the wife of Khaya Bhodoza, who runs a security company called MPS. MPS provides security to people such as politicians. Winnie was born into politics as her father is the deputy president”, she said.
“She is a mother of two. She runs her household and makes sure everything is intact. She was married at a young age so the life she is currently living is all she knows. She would do anything to protect the one thing that is important to her, her family and the Bhodoza name. She makes sure the name remains clean in the public eye. A charming, strong woman with a lot of fight is how I would describe Winnie”.
Angela recently finished shooting on Netflix’s Savage Beauty.
“I’m working on my foundation (Angela Sithole Foundation) and a business that I’m looking to get into”, she said.
