Police are investigating the murder and kidnapping of an e-hailing service driver who was found dead in his car in Soshanguve Ext 5 on Tuesday afternoon, July 9.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said police received a call about a dead body inside a car next to Kopanong clinic, in the north of Pretoria.
He said when officers arrived on the scene they found a white Toyota Corolla Quest with the rear door wide open.
“Upon searching the car, they discovered a man lying unconsciously in the back seat of the car,” said Van Dyk.
Van Dyk said the Gauteng emergency services certified the victim dead on the scene.
He added that the deceased had a gunshot wound on the left side of his chest.
“He was identified as the Bolt driver of Soshanguve,” he said.
“Police have opened a case of murder and kidnapping,” he added.
Van Dyk said no arrest has been made yet.
