Zimbabwean Afro-contemporary musician Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave has drawn ire on social media over her remarks about Winky D.

Taking to her Facebook account, Fungisai claimed that she was the one who was given Winky D’s first demo when he was still an upcoming artist.

She revealed that the encounter happened at Luciano, City Sports Centre when he wanted a slot to perform. Fungisai claims that she encouraged him, saying it would all work out.

“Subscribe to my YouTube a/c 🙏🏾 🤣Ndini ndakapihwa 1st Demo YaWinky D ari upcoming kwaLuciano, City Sports Centre achida slot pabreak, ndikamuti “WOW zvichaita!” 😆😆😂 true story,” Fungisai wrote.

However, her post sparked a wave of criticism from social media users. Netizens slammed her, claiming that she was seeking relevance and promoting her music through Winky D.

Social media users argued that she should have simply asked people to subscribe to her YouTube channel without mentioning Winky D’s name.
