Ninety-one out of 95 Libyans arrested at an illegal military camp in Mpumalanga have been admitted as detainees in their facilities.
The accused appeared before the White River Magistrates Court on Monday on charges of contravening the Immigration Act after it came to light that they misrepresented themselves on their visa applications to enter South Africa.
Last week, a multidisciplinary police team and officials from the Home Affairs Department uncovered an illegal military training camp on a secluded farm in White River.
Correctional Services spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, said the location of the prison could not be disclosed due to security reasons.
“The other four making it 95 had to be taken back to the police cells as their warrant of detention needs some rectifications.”
