The Gauteng Department of Education has extended the 2025 online admission period by 48 hours to allow parents who haven’t enrolled their children the opportunity to do so.
The initial deadline for parents hoping to secure placement for their children heading into grades 1 and 8 in 2025 was set for Monday.
However, there was a two-day disruption on 9 August and 10 August that prevented parents from accessing or utilizing the department’s online system.
MEC Matome Chiloane said 2024’s cohort of applicants supersedes previous years, making the extension pivotal.
“The 9th of August and the early hours of the 10th – that’s when the system was completely offline, and parents could not complete and apply. That’s why we extended the two days from to the 12th to the 14th, giving them an extra 48 hours to complete applying.”
